Michelle Mandelstein is good at the what ifs.

A business owner herself, she knows both the rewards and challenges of owning a business can only be appreciated when you do your best to think through all possible scenarios.

Michelle and a friend started a personal styling business but soon parted ways, leaving Michelle to run the business on her own.

In terms of business difficulties and transactions, Michelle has been through it all: forming the business, not seeing eye to eye with a partner, dissolving the partnership, handling fallout when goals aren’t met, fear of failure, and litigation.

She knows these challenges (and litigation, in particular) can take a toll and understands how intimidating the law can seem to even the most sophisticated driven business owner. The what ifs can be paralyzing.

That’s why Michelle became a lawyer – to help other entrepreneurs conquer those fears and realize their business visions. She maintains an ongoing conversation with clients, listening to how their motivations and the business itself are evolving to gain a deep understanding of her clients’ needs.

Michelle also works as an Adjunct Professor of Fashion Business Law and Licensing at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Her experience teaching law to fashion students helps her communicate clearly with her clients so they can understand the complexities of business law.Outside the office, Michelle is active in the community. She is part of Central Synagogue’s Central In Action Leadership Team, taking in part in community organizing on social justice issues, as well as co-managing a volunteer program serving breakfast to the hungry. She considers herself a nerd for fashion, trivia, and the New York Times crossword puzzle.

At the end of the day, Michelle’s most important goal is to help her clients achieve their business visions.

That’s why she uses her understanding of the story of her clients’ business, along with her personal experience, to think critically through the what ifs to find solutions that best align with each business’ specific goals.
